A guarantee of housing will only extend if applicants are from institutions with formal partnership arrangements with Queen Mary, otherwise allocations are made subject to availability once all our other commitments have been met.
Only applicants who have accepted a firm offer to study at Queen Mary University of London are sent login details to apply for housing, therefore you will be unable to meet the housing deadline of 30 June. Despite missing the deadline we strongly encourage you to apply for accommodation as soon as you are able. To apply for housing you will need to use both the username and password provided to you when you applied to study at Queen Mary. You can also access the online housing portal via the Accommodation tile on MySIS.
Once you have applied you will automatically be placed onto the halls waiting list for any last minute cancellations, either before term starts or during the term. Priority will be given to applicants living furthest away. If it looks unlikely we will be able to make you an offer in halls, or if you feel it is untenable to remain on the waiting list beyond the start of term, we will provide you with lots of support and guidance on seeking alternative housing.
Our team of housing advisors will be able to provide you with specific advice geared to your housing needs. Our website also provides information on short stay options, hotels, hostels, privately built halls and homestay opportunities. Please don’t be discouraged, we are here to help and ease your transition into university life.
We reserve a significant number of places for our applicants who join us through Clearing.

The online housing application process opens in March each year. Due to the popularity of Queen Mary Halls we strongly recommend that you apply as soon as you are able. To apply for housing you will need to use both the username and password provided to you when you applied to study at Queen Mary. You can also access the online housing portal via the Accommodation tile on MySIS. Room allocations are made on a 'first come, first serve' basis, after all other eligibility criteria has been met.
Please note: if you are holding a conditional offer at Queen Mary University of London please do not wait until you receive your examination results before completing and submitting your housing application.
If you have extenuating circumstances or a medical/disability that you wish to be considered when submitting your application please submit any supporting literature, which is relevant to your case within 14 days of making your application.
In the case of a medical condition you will need to provide medical evidence signed and dated within three months of the date of your application. This evidence has to be written in English and provided by a doctor or other medical professional, such as a specialist. Unless you are a first year international student applying to study at Queen Mary this evidence must come from a medical practitioner based in the UK. All applications with the necessary supporting literature will then be passed to the University's Disability and Dyslexia Service for an assessment. For further information go to Disability and Dyslexia Service.
Any non-medical extenuating circumstances will be referred to the Housing Advisory Review Panel for consideration. You will be required to send an email outlining your extenuating circumstances to housingservices@qmul.ac.uk and any supporting literature should be scanned and sent with this email. Your request will be acknowledged and you will be informed of the Panel outcome by email.
